Hi, I'm Vincent! I'm a photographer born with Down syndrome. I believe in the power of pictures to make the world a better place. I love capturing the beauty around me and sharing my art and photographs with others. When I'm not behind the camera, you can find me listening to my favorite bands, The Beatles and the Grateful Dead. Like them, I want to spread peace and love through my art.
Vincent’s social and open minded spirit elicits moments for smiles and hugs and sharing of ideas and information.
He is at his best when discovering new destinations , meeting new groups of people and welcoming people to San Diego .
During his homeschooling years as a young teen and young adult, the “ City Of San Diego “ in many areas of the communities including Sea World , coffee shops , churches , synagogues , temples , restaurants , nonprofits , parks and events , which all - became Vincent’s school ground and educational environment with many opportunities to learn to socialize , communicate , share , assist those with needs that he could help with such as assisting with non profits, and with serving the community by assisting as an advocate for furthering new opportunities for the special needs population .
His desire to help others in need is his strength , and part of his goals and also his weakness as he feels deeply as we all do , for those feeling the effects of troubling times .
The stories are endless of the people he meets and wants to assist . Last week Vincent took off his shoes to give to a person that asked for funds for shoes . The person has wet socks on and Vincent became quite saddened for the persons dilemma . Vincent learned from this dishevelled fellow , that he , in his past was trying to work with Special Needs Individuals , while studying in a local college. The man turned down his shoes and welcomed the love from a stranger instead . The stories of how hugs happen are endless .
Some people approach him with hugs, as he reminds them of a family member afar , or a family member whom passed , or their longing to be with their own families children whom live afar.
I have tried my best to keep him active and from the negative news cycles , though he plunges in depth through talks with his friends and by researching on his devices .
He now is quite serious and sensitive about the conditions that are abounding with the homeless community and also quite depressed and concerned about the fears from our immigration community .
He witnessed first hand somewhat of the conditions of immigrants trying to cross the border due to us living on a border o unity with Mexico during The first Trump administration .
He witnessed on TV the degrading system of children being taken from their families and placed in cages and many eventually lost in a chaotic system .
He now intends to do something about his fears by joining organizations such as The institute for peace .
Vincent’s early life during his educational grade school and jr. High years were met by apathetic teachers , who were accustomed and steered towards keeping our vulnerable children with special needs with communication challenges
In classrooms called special day classrooms for the moderate to severe , where they were denied any sort of expressive education . His family fought for a reading program - Any program and he was always denied all academic structures .
The reasons are plenty and have maybe to do the schools administrations finances , and the schools desire to get our children in jobs independently , while ignoring their need to not only read, though to speak , write, type, and master more abilities with in language arts that all typical students are given though denied to children in special day classrooms .
From this Vincent acquired the ability to over see the neglect by understanding and feeling the sadness or fears of the teachers and aides.
This past history makes Vincent a natural advocate and a person with deep empathy and extraordinary social awareness .
He wishes to learn alternative healing arts to assist with healing himself and the world with transformational intent , with ideas of light and with his understanding that peace and love are with in our sight , by reaching others in their time of need.
A Welcoming Spirit
